-Police in Rachuonyo North, Homa Bay county on Saturday, November 9, arrested several KSCE candidates from a local school who had sneaked out to attend a dance at night.
Sources say 18 students, 16 boys and two girls, from Kobala Mixed Secondary School located in Wang’ Chieng’ ar stealthy made their way out of the school through the fence at night.
Daily Nation reported that the incident was confirmed by area chief Peter Agunga who revealed to journalists that the 18 placed a wooden ladder on the fence and jumped out. ”They avoided leaving the school through the gate because they could be seen. The school’s management confirmed that the candidates are sitting their exams,” Agunga said.
Reports from the area indicated the students had their fun all the way past midnight when they retired to a home in the village instead of heading back to school. It is at that juncture that residents alerted Agunga who mobilised some police officers and together they arrested the group. “I was called by a resident who told me that a group of students had locked themselves in a house in the village. I rushed there and we arrested them,” Agunga added. The chief stated that Kobala Mixed Secondary School head confirmed the students were all sitting for the national exam.
