To much energy, time and resources have been spent in Kibra in a bid to elect an MP. Its unprecedented only Kipipiri by election during Kanu era and to some extent Kericho senatorial by election have come close.
Whoever wins might find it rough in 2022. The electorate have gotten the impression they are electing a messiah to deliver them from poverty. Much will be expected from that person who will have less than three years to meet those expectations. A fete that is impossible. I will seriously pity the victor of Thursday’s by election, too many promises have been made to the innocent residents of Kibra which most will not be met.
But I’m glad we are coming to an end of otherwise a by election that for weeks has consumed our political conversations, to an extent of becoming an irritant. So much that we’ve almost forgotten that BBI report was to be handed end of October.
